Sunday is a fantastic day for MLB DraftKings Fantasy players. Aces take the mound for more than 1 or 2 teams on Sunday, May 28. Check out the pitchers that I plan on using for my DFS Sunday Team. Also, take a look at the 3 pitchers I think DFS Players should avoid.
Top 3 Pitchers to Add
1. Jon Lester, Chicago Cubs
It's ace against ace when the Chicago Cubs send Jon Lester to the mound while the L.A. Dodgers send Clayton Kershaw to the mound. Out of the 2 star pitchers, I like Lester more than Kershaw. First, Lester's salary hit should be much less than Kershaw's. Second, Lester has been great versus the Dodgers.
L.A. bats .200 against Lester. He's allowed 25 hits from 125 at-bats. It's not always easy to score runs at Chavez-Ravine. Lester should have a dynamite game this Sunday.
2. Michael Pineda, New York Yankees
The competitive Pineda has had a decent season. His 5-2 record is nice while he's struck out 61 batters from 53.2 innings pitched. He's also secured a 3.35 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP.
There's no reason to believe that Pineda doesn't have a great game versus the A's on Sunday. Okay, maybe, there's one reason. The A's bat .295 against Pineda. They've got 13 hits from 44 at-bats. But, that's the thing…the 13 hits came from only 44 at-bats. Pineda has been strong pitching at home with a 2.18 ERA and a .88 WHIP.
Pineda's yet another to consider going off at a vast discount to Mr. Kershaw.
3. Lance McCullers Jr., Houston Astros
McCullers has won his last 3 starts. That's the first reason to love the guy. His ERA is a tremendous 2.43 while his WHIP is a very good 1.04. McCullers also has a 5-1 record. Versus Houston's opponent on Sunday, Baltimore, McCullers has been fantastic. The O's have 5 hits from 42 at-bats versus McCullers.
Yes, there is a chance that Baltimore's heavy bats get it in gear against Lance on May 28. Only 42 at-bats means that with the right adjustments, the O's could take McCullers to school. Then again, McCullers has struck out 23 of the 42 Baltimore Orioles he's faced. That incredible.
Top 3 Pitchers to Stay Away From
1. Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers
You know he's going to cost over $13k. So, even though he's likely to pitch a great game, the cost may not be worth it. There are other strikeout kings, like Lance McCullers, who will cost you a lot less on Sunday.
With all of that being written, I'm staying away from Clayton only because of cost. If I wasn't so sure he'd be the highest-priced player on Sunday, I'd probably have him in the other category on this blog.
2. Johnny Cueto, San Francisco Giants
The Giants are going to check Cueto Sunday before the game. Manager Bruce Bochy wants to make sure Cueto is okay to start. That info by itself means you shouldn't consider him for your MLB DraftKings Fantasy Baseball Team.
If he doesn't start, great. You don't have to worry about him. If he does start…don't even think about it. Cueto has a 4.64 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP this season. Atlanta, Sunday's opponent, bats .269 against Cueto. They've hit 5 home runs off Cueto from 93 at-bats.
3. Jordan Zimmerman, Detroit Tigers
Zimmerman was fantastic last season. This season? Not so much. His 5.86 ERA and 1.54 WHIP should give no fantasy owners confidence. The last time Zimmerman faced the White Sox, he gave up a ridiculous 3 earned runs off 7 hits in only 5 innings of work. It could be a short night for Zimmy on May 28.
