I put together an NFL Week 15 Classic Team. My goal is to lean on Big Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown in Pittsburgh. The Steelers battle a New England defense that hasn't been great all season long. Both running backs I add to the team are at under $6,000. I like a running back at under $5,000 for my flex position.
After reading about my NFL Week 15 Classic Team, don't forget to keep reading for my NFL Week 15 Pick'Em Team.
NFL Week 15 Classic Team
QB – Ben Roethlisberger, $6,700, Pittsburgh vs New England
Big Ben was en fuego at home versus the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14. He threw for over 500 yards. Ben might have to throw for over 500 yards again versus the New England Patriots' defense. The Pats' offense is plenty good enough to score points versus Pitt's D.
Not only that, but the Patriots' offense allowed Miami's Jay Cutler to throw for 263 yards and 3 TD passes. If the Steelers are to beat the Pats on Sunday, Big Ben must have a huge game.
RB – Kenyan Drake, $5,800, Miami at Buffalo
Drake's been awesome in recent weeks. In Miami's last couple of games, he's rushed for 234 combined yards from a combined 48 carries. Drake's scored a TD in Week 13, a Miami blowout win over the Denver Broncos. In Week 14, Kenyan Drake caught 5 of 6 targets for 79 yards. Miami upset the Patriots 27 to 20.
The Bills allow 123.7 rushing yards per game. The Bills rank 26th against the rush. Drake could have a huge game because the Bills must deal with Drake's pass-catching as well as his rushing ability.
RB – Derrick Henry, $4,800, Tennessee at San Francisco
Drake's teammate at Alabama, Derrick Henry, has a fantastic match up versus the San Francisco 49'ers this Sunday. The Titans must get back on the winning track after losing straight up to Arizona. The best way to do that is to lean on Henry.
He should have a dynamite game rushing against an SF defense that yields an average of 121.3 rushing yards per. Henry might even catch a few footballs out of the backfield against the surging 49'ers.
WR – Antonio Brown, $9,100, Pittsburgh vs New England
Brown remains the best fantasy football player in the NFL. With 3 weeks left in the regular season, Antonio has 99 catches for 1,509 yards. He's also caught 9 TD passes. New England's defense must contend with RB Le'Veon Bell. Both Martavis Bryant and JuJu Smith-Schuster could play. That will leave Antonio in more one-on-one coverage. There's no cornerback in the NFL that can hang with the great Antonio Brown.
WR – Jordy Nelson, $6,300, Green Bay at Carolina
At first glance, Nelson hasn't had a great season. He's only caught 47 passes for 443 yards. He's also only caught 6 TD passes. However, Jordy's played most of this season with Brett Hundley as his quarterback. The great Aaron Rodgers starts this Sunday. Nelson could have a monster day versus a Carolina defense that usually plays Cover 2 zone. I expect Rodgers and Nelson to go back to their dominant ways versus the Panthers.
WR – Robert Woods, $5,700, L.A. Rams at Seattle
Robert Woods is QB Jared Goof's favorite target. He's missed the the last three games due to an injury. Seattle has some serious issues in their secondary. The Seahawks allowed the Jacksonville Jaguars to score 30 points against them in Week 14. WR Dede Westbrook caught 5 passes for 81 yards and a TD. Woods should score at least 1 TD on Sunday.
TE – Charles Clay, $3,000, Buffalo vs Miami
Clay only averages 8 fantasy points per game. He could have a decent game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, though. The Fins rank 31st in the NFL versus opposing tight-ends. The weather should be in Clay's favor as well.
The real reason to like Clay at only a $3,000 salary? Buffalo QB Tyrod Taylor returns this Sunday. Earlier in the season, Taylor mightily leaned on Clay in the passing game. My guess, is that he does it again on Dec. 17.
FLEX – Samaje Perine, $4,800, Washington vs Arizona
I know that Arizona shut down Tennessee running backs Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray in Week 14. The Cards held Tennessee to only 65 rushing yards. That won't happen versus Washington in D.C. Samaje Perine could have a field day because Washington's passing attack is decent. Not only that, but Perine is, literally, the only healthy running back on the team. Byron Marshall, Rob Kelley, and Chris Thompson are all on IR.
DEF – Baltimore Ravens, $3,800, Ravens at Browns
Baltimore's defense had been playing great until Week 14. What happened last Sunday? Baltimore cornerback Jimmy Smith is hurt. He's on IR. Marlon Humphrey started in place of Smith. That didn't work out all that well.
Still, in Week 15 the Ravens get to face one of the worst offenses in the NFL. QB DeShone Kizer is a mess. The fact that WR Josh Gordon is back has already helped Kizer improve some. Humphrey figures to play better as well. I think the Ravens have an excellent game on the defensive side of the ball this Sunday.
NFL Week 15 Pick'em Team
T1 – Alvin Kamra, RB, New Orleans vs New York Jets
In Week 14, Alvin Kamara suffered a concussion early in the loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Kamara has already passed concussion protocol. He's a must add on my Pick'em team for NFL Week 15 even though I'm not willing to pay the salary to put him onto my Classic team.
T2 – Devin Funchess, WR, Carolina vs Green Bay
Funchess was listed as questionable. He's been upgraded to probable. He leads the Panthers in TDs with 7. I think he could have a great game versus Green Bay's defense. This is particularly true because Carolina versus Green Bay should be a shootout.
T3 – Davante Adams, WR, Green Bay at Carolina
Adams might not have as good of a game as Jordy Nelson. He should still garner more fantasy points than the other options at Tier 3. I believe Aaron Rodgers comes back guns blazing.
T4 – Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay at Carolina
Rodgers should hit the ground running versus a Carolina defense that plays zone. Aaron's actually been healthy enough to get back onto the field for the past couple of weeks. Supposedly, he's looked great in practice. I think he rocks it.
T5 – Blake Bortles, QB, Jacksonville vs Houston
Bortles faces one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. Blake's had some mighty fine moments under center in recent weeks. In the Jaguars last 2 games, versus Indianapolis and Seattle, Blake's thrown for a combined 577 yards and 4 TD passes. He hasn't tossed an interception.
T6 – Kenyan Drake, RB, Miami at Buffalo
Like I highlighted above, Drake's been awesome in Miami's last couple of games. Now, we know why Miami didn't think it a was a big deal to ship Jay Ajayi to Philadelphia.
T7 – Alex Collins, RB, Baltimore at Cleveland
Collins has become Baltimore's top running back. He rushed for 120 yards and a TD versus the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense in Week 14. He should rush for at least that against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15.
T8 – Latavius Murray, RB, Minnesota vs Cincinnati
This feels like one of those games where the Minnesota Vikings lean on Latavius Murray. Cincinnati's defense had no shot against the Chicago Bears offense in Week 14. How the heck are they going to handle Minnesota's offense in Week 15? They aren't.
Good luck with your fantasy contests in NFL Week 15!
