Time for my NFL Week 2 Monday Night Football and Thursday Night Football DraftKings Pick'em Team.
T1 Eli Manning, QB, NY Giants vs Detroit – I'm definitely taking a shot that Eli bounces back from a horrendous performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. Manning might get Odell Beckham Jr. back for this game. Even if he doesn't, he's too professional of a player to allow a bad week to rough him up. I could have gone with Detroit QB Matthew Stafford. Unfortunately, Stafford faces a much better pass defense against the New York Giants than he did against Arizona in Week 1.
I'll roll the dice with Eli to get it done on September 18.
T2 Jared Goff, QB, L.A. Rams at San Francisco – Goff fell back down to earth in the Rams' 20 to 27 loss to Washington in Week 2. The San Francisco 49'ers defense has so far battled against 2 NFL offenses, Carolina's and Seattle's, that aren't known for passing the football.
That changes for the 49'ers defense on Thursday. QB Jared Goff should be much more comfortable against San Francisco than he was versus his head coach's former team. I like Goff to bounce back with a nice performance.
T3 Todd Gurley II, L.A. Rams at San Francisco – Todd Gurley has quietly had 2 decent weeks. Although he hasn't rushed for over 100 yards in either Week 1 or Week 2, he did score a TD in both weeks. Gurley's ready for a breakout performance.
T4 Carlos Hyde, RB, San Francisco vs L.A. Rams – Hyde was exceptional against the Seattle Seahawks defense in NFL Week 2. He rushed for 124 yards on 15 carries. Seattle only beat San Francisco 12 to 9. Hyde should only get better the more he familiarizes himself with HC Kyle Shanahan's offense.
T5 Theo Reddick, Detroit at NY Giants – In Week 1, Stafford targeted Reddick 7 times in the passing game. He caught 6 of the passes for 27 yards and a TD. The Lions almost assuredly must throw the football to Reddick to move it against the Giants' tough defense.
T6 Cooper Kupp, WR, L.A. Rams at San Francisco – Kupp has had a better season so far than highly prized acquisition Sammy Watkins. If I want to add Watkins on my NFL Pick'em squad, I can't add Todd Gurley. Gurley's a must because the matchup is so favorable. I'm happy I can add Kupp at Tier 6.
T7 Roger Lewis, WR, NY Giants vs Detroit – Lewis caught 4 of 6 targets for 54 yards in the loss to the Cowboys. If Odell doesn't play, Lewis should be a big factor on Monday night. My gut tells me Odell doesn't play in Week 2.
T8 George Kittle, TE, San Francisco vs L.A. Rams – Kittle leads the 49'ers in targets and catches. That's amazing because his targets are 9 while his catches are 7. San Francisco might get a chance to throw to Kittle in the red zone on Thursday night.
He's the best option at Tier 8. Who else should I add? Giants' RB Orleans Darkwa? Detroit WR TJ Jones? Kittle's the best option.
