NFL Week 3 is upon us. I list the Top 5 NFL Wide Receivers, based on DraftKings' salary, for Sunday in Week 3. Check out my thoughts after looking at the list.
NFL Week 3 Top Fantasy WRs
1. Julio Jones, $9,300, Atlanta at Detroit
2. Antonio Brown, $9,000, Pittsburgh at Chicago
3. Odell Beckham Jr., $8,600, New York Giants at Philadelphiua
4. A.J. Green, $8,100, Cincinnati at Green Bay
5. Jordy Nelson, $7,800, Green Bay vs Cincinnati
Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
Julio's an elite receiver. But, he only got 9 targets, catching 5, versus the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. Jones has yet to score a TD. One of the reasons is because Atlanta's offense is good across the board. New offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is content utilizing Jones as more of a decoy than an actual threat.
That's a big difference from past seasons when Jones was the lone focal point of Atlanta's offense. Julio only has 9 receptions for 174 yards in 2 games. Until defenses adjust away from Jones, he's a bad add to all DraftKings DFS Fantasy Football teams at $9,300.
Best Choice Based on Salary
A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals offense has been dreadful in 2 games. But, and I sincerely mean this, eventually it should get going. I refuse to believe that QB Andy Dalton is this bad: 0 TD passes, 4 interceptions, and 394 passing yards in 2 games. Green has amassed 141 yards of Dalton's 394 yards. A.J. has 5 catches in 2 games. If he can add a TD to around 7 to 8 catches in this game, he might be worth the $8,100.
Just as an FYI, I'm not adding any of the 5 highest salary cost WRs to my DraftKings DFS teams in NFL Week 3. I'm looking to build my WR corps around one of the guys in the next section.
NFL Week 3 WR Options
Mike Evans, $7,500, Tampa Bay at Minnesota
Evans is on the cusp of being in the Top 5. He should be. The matchup is glorious for Mike Evans on Sunday. Minnesota's defense is predicated on stopping the rush. Tampa Bay QB Jameis Winston loves to throw the football to Evans. Jameis targeted Evans 9 times in Tampa's 29 to 7 win over Chicago in Week 2.
Evans could see more targets on Sunday. Winston targeted DeSean Jackson 7 times versus Chicago. Jackson hauled in 3 passes while Evans hauled in 7 of his 9 targets.
Keenan Allen, $7,200, L.A. Chargers vs Kansas City Chiefs
It's difficult to see Bolts vs Chiefs not turning into a shootout. KC's offense is unstoppable while LAC has no rushing attack. The Chargers average 57 rushing yards per game. That's incredibly low. 25-year-old Allen appears to be over the injury that caused him to miss most of last season. Allen already has 14 catches for 135 yards and a TD this season.
Tyreek Hill, $6,600, Kansas City at L.A. Chargers
If you believe Alex Smith outplays Phillip Rivers in Week 3, Hill might be the guy to build your DFS receiving corps around. The Eagles concentrated on containing Hill in Week 2. He still caught 4 passes for 43 yards. All Smith did was go to TE Travis Kelce. If the Chargers decide to stop Kelce, Hill's going to be open. He could have a spectacular game just like he did in Week 1.
