Huge injuries in NFL Week 6 could have a big effect on DraftKings NFL DFS Teams in future weeks. When it comes to daily fantasy football contests, injuries on the defensive side of the ball could have as big of an effect as injuries on the offensive side of the ball. It depends on the team. It depends on the team's upcoming matchups.
Check out the most fantasy impactful injuries in NFL Week 6.
Carolina Panthers – LB Luke Kuechley
Luke Kuechly suffered a concussion this past Thursday in Carolina's loss to Philadelphia. On Friday, Kuechley said he was fine. Carolina's star LB may or may not play on Sunday versus the Chicago Bears. I'm guessing he won't. From my perspective, Luke's last concussion is one too many. He should consider retirement.
The problem Carolina's going to have if Kuechley doesn't play (again, he shouldn't!) is stopping Bears' RBs Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. Both can take it to the house on every carry.
Denver Broncos QB – Trevor Siemian, WR – Emanuel Sanders
Siemian is listed as day-to-day with a left shoulder injury. Brock Osweiler filled in for Trevor after the Giants' defense knocked him out of last Sunday night's Broncos' loss. Osweiler completed 2 of 4 for 18 yards.
Sanders hurt his lower leg or ankle colliding with NYG safety Landon Collins. Sanders is out for at least Week 7. If Siemian plays, the Broncos should have no trouble breaking down the L.A. Chargers' defense on Sunday. If Siemian doesn't play, Denver might have trouble getting into the end zone.
Detroit Lions – OT Greg Robinson, WR Golden Tate
Greg Robinson is listed as questionable for Detroit's Week 8 battle versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Without Robinson, the Steelers could tee-off on QB Matthew Stafford.
Golden Tate is out indefinitely. Tate suffered an AC joint sprain in the loss to New Orleans in Week 7. He's going to miss multiple weeks. Without Tate, Stafford should throw more to Kevin Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. The Lions' entire offense is built around the passing game. Both those guys could have decent fantasy showings as long as Tate is out.
Green Bay Packers – QB Aaron Rodgers, OT Brian Bulaga, OG Lane Turner
The biggest injury is to QB Aaron Rodgers. This might be the biggest injury of the season. Rodgers was having a stellar year, again. AR's collarbone is broken. Brian Bulaga is listed day-to-day with a concussion. Lane Turner is listed day-to-day with a knee issue.
Rodgers loss should be felt by all DraftKings DFS players. Why? Aaron Rodgers was, without fail, one of the high salary cost guys in the QB category every week. His non-participation in DFS will no doubt cause salaries on other quarterbacks to rise.
For Green Bay fans, it's an even bigger blow. The Packers had proved themselves a Super Bowl favorite after beating the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington in Week 5. I feel bad for Rodgers and the Cheeseheads. I thought that this was the year Green Bay might make a run to the Super Bowl.
Jacksonville Jaguars – RB Leonard Fournette
Fournette is listed day-to-day with an ankle injury. He most likely plays this week. The problem with adding Leonard to any DFS team is hoping he stays in the game. Before leaving the matchup versus the L.A.Rams this past Sunday, Fournette had gained 130 yards on 21 carries. He also scored a rushing TD.
Kansas City Chiefs – WR Tyreek Hill, RB Charcandrick West
Tyreek Hill suffered an upper-body injury in the Chiefs loss to Pittsburgh. Hill demands a lot of attention from defenses. He's one of the reasons that Chiefs' RB Kareem Hunt has been on such a tear. The good news for KC fans is that Hill is expected to play against the Raiders on Thursday night.
Charcandrick West suffered a concussion. He's listed as day-to-day. It's likely that Hunt sees even more action versus the Raiders on Thursday. I think Hunt's a must use in all DFS contests that involve Thursday's NFL game.
Miami Dolphins – C Mike Pouncey
Pouncey is being evaluated for a concussion he suffered in Miami's shocking road win over the Atlanta Falcons. Without Pouncey, the Dolphins' exasperatingly slow moving offense figures to move even slower. The New York Jets are this Sunday's opponent. The Jets' defense has slowly come together. It's not a pushover unit.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – QB Jameis Winston
Winston suffered a shoulder injury in Tampa's loss to Arizona on Sunday. X-rays on the shoulder proved to be negative. Still, Jameis is considered day-to-day. The Buccaneers face one of the better defenses in the NFL in the Buffalo Bills in Week 7.
It's hard to have faith in any Tampa player versus the Bills defense. If Jameis can't play, it's going to be even more difficult to have faith in any Tampa Bay player.
