NFL Week 3 is upon us. I list the Top 5 NFL Running Backs, based on DraftKings' salary, for Sunday in Week 3. Check out my thoughts after looking at the list.
NFL Week 3 Top Fantasy RBs
1. Le'Veon Bell, $8,800, Pittsburgh at Chicago
2. Kareem Hunt, $8,000, Kansas City at L.A. Chargers
3. Jay Ajayi, $7,700, Miami at New York Jets
4. Melvin Gordon, $7,600, L.A. Chargers vs Kansas City
5. LeSean McCoy, $7,000, Buffalo at Denver
Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh at Chicago
Pittsburgh has been just fine without Bell taking over a game. The Steelers have given Le'Veon the football. In 2 games, he's rushed for 119 yards on 37 carries. Bell hasn't scored a TD yet this season, though. He also only has 7 catches for 19 yards.
Bell's per carry average is at 3.2. His yards per catch average is at 2.7. $8,800 is an awful lot of DFS salary to shell out for an RB that hasn't shown anything in 8 quarters.
Melvin Gordon, L.A. Chargers vs Kansas City
It may not be Melvin Gordon's fault, but his fantasy value isn't close to his $7,600 DraftKings DFS salary. Gordon has scored 2 TDs in 2 games. That's nice. He's also caught 12 passes. That's definitely nice. But, he's become a liability at rushing the football.
Do you want to pay a $7,600 salary on an RB that doesn't rush the football well? I don't.
Best Choice Based on Salary
Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs
$8,000 is a lot of salary cap dollars. Sure, Hunt could slow down. Then again, he plays for the Kansas City Chiefs where the last Kareem Hunt, Jamal Charles, carried the football in every game and also caught passes in every game.
I'm willing to spend the $8,000 on Hunt to have another monster Sunday.
NFL Week 3 RB Options
Christian McCaffrey, $6,100, Carolina vs New Orleans
McCaffrey's fantasy numbers haven't been great. He only scored 12 points in Week 1. He only scored 8 points in Week 2. New Orleans' defense might be worse than the Jets' D, though. Also, with TE Greg Olsen out, Cam's going to dump to McCaffrey much more in Week 3 than he did in the first 2 weeks of the season.
MIke Gillislee, $5,700, New England vs Houston
This could be the week where Mike Gillislee dominates. The former Buffalo RB hasn't had much room to run in 2 weeks. No worries. He's already scored 4 TDs. I believe he rushes for over 100 yards against Houston in Week 3 while scoring 2 to 3 TDs.
Tarik Cohen, $5,600, Chicago vs Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh's D has looked good in a couple of games. There's a reason why. Pitt faced Cleveland's offense in Week 1. It faced Minnesota's offense without QB Sam Bradford in Week 2.
The Steelers could have a tough time dealing with Cohen in this game. If Chicago QB Mike Glennon settles down, he was way to hyped playing against former employer Tampa Bay in Week 2, Cohen could score up to 20 points or more against Pitt's D. Expect a huge bounce back game from the rookie RB.
